Tribute to Colin Smith

Colin Smith served as President of Essex County LBC since 1995 and contributed significantly at both the Divisional and National levels. In recent years, Colin faced health challenges and was unable to be as active, but his impact on the sport and the club was immense. It is with great sadness that we share Colin passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 70. We are deeply grateful for all that he has done for the sport of bowls and our club. He will be greatly missed.
Bowls USA - Hall of Fame Bio on Colin Smith - inducted in 2017
Colin Smith came to America with his bowls in 1979 and quickly found the Essex County Lawn Bowling Club around the corner.  Since joining, Colin has won many NE Division tournaments and was the Northeast Division Bowler of the Year in 2000. He represented the NE at the US Championships in Pairs in 1999 and in Singles in 2016. In the US Open his Fours team finished third in 2001 and second in 2003, his Triples team had a third place finish in 1997. In 2002 and 2004 he played on Team USA in the North American Challenge against Canada. In addition to his bowling record, Colin has an impressive record of service to Bowls USA. Colin served as the President of the Essex County LBC since 1995 and has served 3 terms as Eastern/Northeast Division President. He has also served as Division Treasurer, Head Division Umpire, and Games Chair for the Northeast. At the national level, Colin has served many times as a national councilor for ALBA (1995-2000), USLBA (2002-2007) and was the President of

Tribute to Isabella "Izzie" Forbes

We recently lost one our legendary bowlers, Isabella (aka "Izzie") Forbes on Sat, June 13, 2015. We are deeply saddened by the loss as she was an integral part of ECLBC, becoming the first woman President in 1979. She was not only a pioneer in our sport but her love of the game showed in her continued promotion of the game. She will be truly missed.
